Days

Jan 22: International Day of Solidarity with Trans Prisoners

Oct 24: International Day of Action for Trans Depathologization

Nov 18: End Trans Detention National Day of Action

Nov 20: Transgender Day of Remembrance / Trans Day of Resilience

Trans Day of Resilience is an art and activism project that recognizes and supports trans women and femmes of color in their lives and leadership, not just in death. It is an extension and reimagining of Transgender Day of Remembrance, the annual event memorializing people (mostly trans women of color) killed by anti-trans violence. Trans Day of Resilience goes beyond remembrance, and uplifts the resilience and power of trans and gender non-conforming communities of color.

Dec. 17: International Day to End Violence Against Sex-Workers

The International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers is held annually on December 17 by sex workers, their advocates, friends, families and allies. The day calls attention to hate crimes committed against sex workers worldwide, as well as the need to remove the social stigma and discrimination that have contributed to violence against sex workers. Originally conceived as a memorial and vigil for the victims of the Green River Killer in Seattle Washington, United States (US) in 2003, it has now evolved into an annual international event. Cities around the world organise actions and events on the day. This year (2015) events took place in over 60 cities around the world.

Organizations

Black and Pink

Black & Pink is an open family of LGBTQ prisoners and “free world” allies who support each other. Our work toward the abolition of the prison industrial complex is rooted in the experience of currently and formerly incarcerated people. We are outraged by the specific violence of the prison industrial complex against LGBTQ people, and respond through advocacy, education, direct service, and organizing.

Critical Resistance

Critical Resistance seeks to build an international movement to end the Prison Industrial Complex by challenging the belief that caging and controlling people makes us safe. We believe that basic necessities such as food, shelter, and freedom are what really make our communities secure. As such, our work is part of global struggles against inequality and powerlessness. The success of the movement requires that it reflect communities most affected by the PIC. Because we seek to abolish the PIC, we cannot support any work that extends its life or scope.

Love and Protect

Love & Protect supports those who identify as women and gender non-conforming persons of color who are criminalized or harmed by state and interpersonal violence.  Through love, we work towards healing and transformation with these individuals and their families.  Through resistance, we seek to protect their right to defend themselves. Through love, through resistance, we protect!

TGEU: Transgender Europe

Transgender Europe envisions a Europe free from discrimination, where each person can live according to their gender identity and gender expression without interference and where trans people and their families are respected and valued.

TGI Justice Project

TGI Justice Project is a group of transgender people—inside and outside of prison—creating a united family in the struggle for survival and freedom.

TransWomen of Color Collective

Trans Women of Color Collective (TWOCC) is a national organizing collective led by trans women of color created to uplift the narratives, leadership, and lived experiences of trans and gender non conforming people of color.
